Product Description

Alexander Calder (1898-1976), America's most acclaimed and influential sculptor, first made toys as a child. In 1926, he made mechanical toys that led to the creation of the Circus now on permanent view at The Whitney Museum of American Art, New York. The following year and American toy company in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, manufactured a series of "Action Toys", inventive and playful creations by the artist. Over three-quarters of a century after they were first produced, Vilac, in association with the Calder Foundation and PaperBall, New York, is making the toys again for a new generation to discover and enjoy.
